Herbs, 2 m tall, the rhizome lacking a pronounced odor. Inflorescences from base of plant, lax, trailing on ground, the peduncle and rachis together up to 5 cm long. Fruit held erect, green-purple on outside, bright red within, the persisting tepals ora.
